Mathilde Furtenbach

Mathilde Furtenbach studied psychology and pedagogy and completed a Montessori course. In 1975, she completed a speech therapy course in Innsbruck and has since been interested in the new speech therapy area of myofunctional therapy (MFT). Mathilde Furtenbach, Martina Gruber and Alexandra Jurek-Schick integrated the MFT, which was brought to Austria by Daniel Garliner in 1980, into speech therapy and should therefore be called the pioneers of the MFT.
She has been a certified myofunctional therapist since 1998. As a member of the working group on myofunctional therapy/ Orofacial tissue dysfunction, she has been involved in the further development of MFT since the beginning and is still committed to it. Her practical work has always been accompanied by the support of various associate professors, additional self-education and lectures in Austria, South Tyrol/ Italy, Germany and Switzerland in cooperation with speech therapists and child care consultants.
Another area of its activities is interdisciplinary cooperation, especially with dentists, pediatric dentists, orthodontists, child care consultants and breast-feeding consultants, as well as midwives. She is an independent critical consultant on the use of pacifiers and nipples.
Mathilde Furtenbach has been practicing speech therapy in Innsbruck for 35 years, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis and myofunctional therapy of children and adults.
Scientific work: publications in editorial work and magazines, such as information from Orthodontics, and speech therapy (COI, Thieme), Hebammen, lactation and breast-feeding, etc. She is also the editor and co-author of following books:

Alexandra Jurek-Schick, speech therapist

Alexandra Jurek-Schick completed her studies as a speech therapist at the University hospital in Vienna in 1989. In 1993, she took over the Department of speech therapy and was an assistant of the Department until 2002, was jointly responsible for the establishment of clinical and logopedic diagnosis and therapy of oropharyngeal dysphagia.
Since 1995, she has also worked as a freelancer in her own practice in the following therapeutic areas: myofunctional therapy (MFT), voice disorders, delays in language development.
Taught myofunctional therapy / oral dysfunction as a lecturer at various colleges in Austria and Italy (Bolzano, South Tyrol). Aleksandra Jurek-Schick were able to Express their professional commitment "logopaedieAustria" organized the first two Austrian Congress of logopedics in Vienna in 2004 and 2007. Since 2013, she has been Secretary of the Board of the Austrian society of speech therapy, phoniatry and pedaudiology (ÖGLPP).
Founded in 2016 by Alexandra Jurek-Schick and her colleagues Martina Gruber and Frani Bamer, the interdisciplinary MFT platform for speech therapists, orthodontists, dentists, pediatric dentistry, otorhinolaryngologists and pediatricians serves to exchange ideas and create networks of speech therapists.
In addition to her work in speech therapy and as a lecturer, she conducts lectures, workshops and training seminars on myofunctional therapy in Vienna, Switzerland and Germany.

Martina Gruber completed her training as a certified speech therapist with excellent performance in 1984 at the University hospital in Innsbruck. She then worked as a certified speech therapist at the Department of Pediatrics and adolescent medicine. At the same time, she began working with Ms. Furtenbach on myofunctional therapy (MFT). In addition to her work at the University hospital, she began her freelance work with an emphasis on MFT in her own practice.
Since 1988, she founded the Department of speech therapy at the hospital, Rudolfstiftung in Vienna and was a senior speech therapist. She taught on the topic of all speech disorders in various schools for nurses.
Since 1998 she has worked in Amsterdam (Netherlands) to the rehabilitation team Mitil-Tiltiskes with doctors and speech therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Since 2003, she has worked as a free practitioner in Innsbruck and assisted Ms. Furtenbach in conducting therapies and seminars, as well as being a member of the quality assurance group for speech therapy/ myofunctional therapy. She inspired Mrs. Fortenbach to the publication of their internationally-recognized knowledge format tutorials.
Since 2013, she has been working in private practice in Vienna and conducting refresher courses in Innsbruck and Vienna. In 2016, she, Alexandra Jurek-Schick and Fran Bamer founded interdisciplinary professional exchange for orthodontics, dentistry, pediatric dentistry, otolaryngology, Pediatrics and speech therapy/ myofunctional therapy. Publications were noted in Austria and the Netherlands in 1994, 2001, 2012, 2014,2015.
